Growing Bromeliads In Your Garden

broms are one of the easiest plants to grow in your garden and are very hardy and forgiving

To make them look good there is a few things to consider

shade or sun

If in full shade some of the best broms for the garden are guz/var/any brom with little or no leaf colour and has a visible flower. Nearly all broms will grow happy in full shade but you will lose colour in folage (eg neos)

If in a well lit area look for broms with thicker leaves like neos/achemas/alcantria some neos have butyfull leaf colourers. I recomed all broms to have some shade in the summer months as some will show burning or bleaching marks this may be e.g. under a jacaranda/palm tree in the middle of the day. The best way to look at it this if your hot and you will burn your plants will suffer too

If in sun there are only a hand full that come to mind achema Blanchillyata and some alcanterias. Even these will show signs of burning from time to time in my climet

most brom's in our climet will take

full sun till 8-9am

then dappeld light

then very late afternoo sun

In the garden when theres been no rain for 6-8weeks we will somtimes water our broms in the garden this just livens them up a bit they would survive without it but would not look as good. You could water say once a fortnight in summer and less in winter.
