ORCHIDS
Seed Pod Development

not long after pollinating you should see swelling of the ovary (just behind the flower) in most cases the flower will wilt/die very quickly do not remove the old flower or petals this may disturb the ovary

there are lots of different lists of the time frame of how long it takes the seed pod to ripen, use these only as a reference as your growing conditions/weather will be different and the cross etc... many also be a variant to these lists

e.g. some native dens I have removed pods after 3 months and a Vanda tri colour removed after 13months,

this is something that you just have to monitor on a weekly and as it gets older daily basis you are looking for colour change/felling out or softening (softening can be a bad thing), Find below some pictures of pods use these only as a reference and this is something you just get a gut feeling about over time.

Also we still from time to time get a perfect looking pod and find that there is no viable seed inside you can only try. You can use a microscope to look at the seed to view the ovary's

but it is still best to throw the seed in a couple of bottles just to make sure. I did this with a phalaenopsis pod under scope look useless but ended up with about 20+ plants. Always better to try.
